Social Media Boot Camp: Effective Social Media Strategies for Solid Waste Districts*
This is a comprehensive look at popular social media platforms and the benefits/tricks/tools to get the most out of them. We will discover how to create a Social Media Strategy vs Plan and walk through identifying goals for our chosen social media platforms.

 1:00 pm           The Nature of Teaching: A Standards-based Food Waste Curriculum*
Workshop participants will receive an overview of The Nature of Teaching Purdue Extension program, with a focus on the food waste program area. Participants will receive hands-on experience with 2-3 STEAM standards-based food waste lesson plans targeting youth grades K-8. All lesson plans will connect food waste to natural resources and the environment using engaging collaborative hands-on activities. All lessons and lesson assessments can be downloaded for free from www.purdue.edu/nature Email Rebecca at busser@purdue.edu for more info.

Education/Outreach Sharing Marketplace*
During this session learn from other districts and get ideas for outreach, marketing materials, adult outreach and school-based programs. The session is designed as a browsable market so that you can focus on the exhibits that are most pertinent to you and your district.

Directors: Best Practices for District Directors*  
The new directors guide will help all directors, new and seasoned review requirements and responsibilities. There's bound to be some new information for all directors. Bring your questions to this session.

Volunteers and Recycling at Public Events
The Indiana Recycling Coalition's Allyson Mitchell will discuss ways to utilize volunteers, their lessons learned from volunteer recruitment & management, and share the IRC's plans to find, develop, and share recycling-smart volunteers with our SWMD members all over the state.

Dan Graeter from GT Environmental will discuss successful volunteer usage under Keep Montgomery County (Ohio) Beautiful’s Environmental Crimes Task Force, Litter Cleanup trailer, and tire buyback program.
